SOCIAL STUDIES 7 EXTENDED WORK

7th Grade Extended Absence work June 2-12

 

Mission Statement: I can apply social science skills to understand the economic, social and political transformation of the United States between the end of World War II and the present by evaluating and explaining the impact of globalization on American life; examining the impact of the Civil Rights Movement, and the changing role of women on all Americans.

Directions: Students should log into their Google Classroom accounts and complete the following learning activities and assessments by June 11, 2020. If you have any questions, please contact your teacher.

· Activity One: Please read the Changing Patterns reading and answer the study guide questions that go along with each. ·

Activity Two: Please log into Flocabulary via Clever. Please watch the assigned video on Globalization. Please complete the Read and Respond and Quiz for each. ·

Activity Three: Please read and fill out the journal entry on the Flu Epidemic 1918 and Covid 19 Pandemic 2020. · Activity Four: Please log into Freckle via Clever. You will be asked to take a short reading comprehension activity. Please read the assigned reading on the Little Rock Nine and answer the discussion questions found on Google Classroom.

Mission Statement: I can apply social science skills to understand the economic, social and political transformation of the United States between the end of World War II and the present by describing changing patterns of society, including expanded education and economic opportunities for women and minorities.

 Directions: Students should log into their Google Classroom accounts and complete the following learning activities and assessments by May 29, 2020.  If you have any questions, please contact your teacher. 

  • Activity One: Please read the Civil Rights Movement readings 1, 2, and 3.  Answer the study guide questions that go along with each. 
  • Activity Two: Please read the Changing Role of Women and answer the questions that accompany it. 
  • Activity Three: Please read the lyrics or listen to the song “A Change is Gonna Come”.  Please answer the analysis questions. 
  • Activity Four: Log into Brainpop via Clever.  Please watch the assigned video on Fannie Lou Hamer and complete the Quiz.

Activity Five: Log into Flocabulary via Clever.  Please watch the assigned videos on Katherine Johnson and the Human Computer, Thurgood Marshall and Justice, and Cesar Chavez and Community Organizing.  Please complete the Read and Respond and Quiz for each.

Directions: Students should complete the following activities by April 17. 2020.

  •  Login to BrainPop via Clever. Watch the instructional videos “Great Depression” and “Great Depression Causes”
  •  Learning Activity #1 - In BrainPop, read the “Great Depression” “Related Readings” and use the information to complete the “Quiz” as practice.
  • Learning Activity #2 - In BrainPop, read the “Great Depression Causes” “Related Readings” and use the information to complete the “Quiz” as practice.
  •  Learning Activity #3 - Login to Flocabulary via Clever. Under the assignments tab, please open the lesson on the Great Depression and watch the Great Depression video. Please complete the “Read and Respond” and the “Quiz”.
  •  Learning Activity #4 - Login to Flocabulary via Clever. Under your assignments tab, please open the lesson on FDR Speech and watch the FDR Speech video. Please complete the “Read and Respond” and “Quiz”
