7th Grade Extended Absence work June 2-12

 

Language Arts 7
Mission Statement: I can identify an author’s purpose for writing by
analyzing details and viewpoint; I can connect words and thoughts in
writing by using commas.

Directions: Students should complete the following activities by June 11,
2020. Students should complete the work in the order listed.
• Learning Activity #1: Read through the Study Island “Source,
Viewpoint, and Purpose” notes. Complete the 15-question
assignment.
• Learning Activity #2: Read through the Flocabulary notes on
“Author’s Purpose.” Complete the “Read and Respond” the “Quiz.”
• Learning Activity #3: Read the passage, “Are you Smarter than 5th
Grader?” and answer the questions that follow.
• Learning Activity #4: Read through the Flocabulary notes on
“Commas.” Complete the “Read and Respond” and the “Quiz.”
• Learning Activity #5: Complete the practice worksheet on commas.

reference materials; I can identify credible sources by asking questions
when conducting research; I can connect words and thoughts in writing by
using appropriate transitions.

Directions: Students should complete the following activities by May 29,
2020. Students should complete the work in the order listed.


• Learning Activity #1: Read through the Study Island notes on “Using
Multiple Sources. Complete the 25 question assignment.
• Learning Activity #2: Read through the Study Island notes on
“Research Questions.” Complete the 10 question assignment.
• Learning Activity #3: Read through the Flocabulary notes on “The
Research Process.” Complete the “Read and Respond” the “Quiz.”
• Learning Activity #4: Read through the Flocabulary notes on
“Transitions.” Complete the “Read and Respond” and the “Quiz.”

Language Arts 7

Mission Statement: I can choose subjects and verbs in various
sentences by following correct agreement rules; I can identify types
of poems by analyzing a poem’s characteristics; I can determine the
meaning of a poem by analyzing its figurative language.

Directions: Students should complete the following activities by May 15,
2020. Students should complete the work in the order listed.

• Learning Activity #1: Read through the Flocabulary lyrics and lyric
notes on subject-verb agreement. Complete the vocabulary cards,
the multiple-choice questions, and the multiple-choice quiz.

• Learning Activity #2: Read through the Study Island notes on
subject-verb agreement. Complete the 25 question Study Island
assignment on subject-verb agreement.

• Learning Activity #3: Read through the Flocabulary lyrics and lyric
notes on Types of Poetry. Complete the vocabulary cards, the
multiple-choice questions, and the multiple-choice quiz.

• Learning Activity #4: Read through the Study Island notes on
figurative language. Complete the 15 question Study Island
assignment on poetry.

• Learning Activity #5: Complete the attached Power School Quiz on
subject-verb agreement and poetry.

Directions:  Students should complete the following activities by April 17, 2020. 

 

  • View instructional Video:  #1 Text Features and Organizational Patterns of Nonfiction (https://youtu.be/ti4wvKBi8NY)
  • Learning Activity #1: Login to www.studyisland.com.  Click on “At-Home Learning: Organizational Patterns.” Complete the lesson, flash cards, and practice.
  • Learning Activity #2:  Also in Study Island, Click on “At-Home Learning: Text Features.”  Complete the lesson, flash cards, and practice.
  • Learning Activity #3: Login to IXL Learning via Clever.  Work on 7th grade Language Arts,  D.4, until you have a SMART score of at least 70%.
  •  Login to Flocabulary via Clever. Under your assignments tab, watch the video, complete the “Read and Respond” and the “Quiz.”
