Language Arts 6
Mission Statement: I can identify an author’s purpose for writing by
analyzing details and viewpoint; I can connect words and thoughts in
writing by using commas.

Directions: Students should complete the following activities by June 12,
2020. Students should complete the work in the order listed.
• Learning Activity #1: Read through the Study Island “Audience and
Purpose” Notes. Complete the 15-question assignment.
• Learning Activity #2: Read through the Flocabulary notes on
“Author’s Purpose.” Complete the “Read and Respond” the “Quiz.”
• Learning Activity #3: Read through the Flocabulary notes on
“Commas.” Complete the “Read and Respond” and the “Quiz.”

Mission Statement: I can locate information by using appropriate
reference materials; I can identify credible sources by asking questions
when conducting research; I can connect words and thoughts in writing by
using appropriate transitions.

Directions: Students should complete the following activities by May 29,
2020. Students should complete the work in the order listed.
• Learning Activity #1: Read through the Study Island Research Notes.
Complete the 15-question assignment.
• Learning Activity #2: Read through the Study Island Research Notes.
Complete the 10-question assignment.
• Learning Activity #3: Read through the Flocabulary notes on “The
Research Process.” Complete the “Read and Respond” the “Quiz.”
• Learning Activity #4: Read through the Flocabulary notes on
“Transitions.” Complete the “Read and Respond” and the “Quiz.”

Mission Statement: I can determine the organizational pattern and text features of a nonfiction passage by analyzing its elements and structure.

Directions: Students should complete the following activities by April 17, 2020.

 

· View instructional Video: #1 “Text Features and Organizational Patterns” https://youtu.be/ti4wvKBi8NY · Learning Activity #1: Login to www.studyisland.com. Click on “At-Home Learning: Organizational Patterns.” Complete the lesson, flash cards, and practice.

· Learning Activity #2: Also in Study Island, Click on “At-Home Learning: Text Features.” Complete the lesson, flash cards, and practice.

· Learning Activity #3: Login to IXL Learning via Clever. Work on 6th grade Language Arts, D.4, until you have a SMART score of at least 70%.

· Login to Flocabulary via Clever. Under your assignments tab, watch the video, complete the “Read and Respond” and the “Quiz.”
